The Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) has announced an Extra Ordinary General Meeting (EGM) scheduled for 25th September, 2024 at 3:00 pm (IST). The meeting will take place in a hybrid format, allowing both physical attendance at the Pharmexcil head office in Hyderabad and virtual participation.

The EGM’s primary agenda is the adoption of the model Articles of Association/bye-laws. The move comes after the Ministry of Commerce’s proposal to streamline the Articles of Association of various Export Promotion Councils under a uniform framework. A committee appointed by the Union Commerce Ministry reviewed and discussed the matter with the Councils, ultimately recommending a model set of Articles to be adopted. This was communicated in their letter dated July 25, 2024 (F.No.13/3/2023-E&MDA-DoC (Part (I))).
Following this, Pharmexcil’s Committee of Administration held several discussions, culminating in a meeting on August 14, 2024 where the resolution to adopt the model Articles, subject to member approval, was passed. The Council is proposing some alterations, as outlined in the resolution included in the notice circulated to all members.

Commenting on the importance of this meeting, K Raja Bhanu, director general (DG) of Pharmexcil, stated, “The adoption of the model Articles of Association marks a significant step towards aligning Pharmexcil with the broader vision of the Ministry of Commerce. This move will streamline our operations and bring uniformity across Export Promotion Councils. It is critical for all our members to participate in this process as their input and approval are essential for finalizing this transition. The associated documents have been sent to members for review and consideration ahead of the meeting.”

Pharmexcil has provided a registration link for members who wish to attend virtually. Interested participants can register by filling out the Google Form at this link to receive the meeting link. Registered participants will receive their virtual access details on 23rd September 2024.

Raja Bhanu emphasized the convenience of the hybrid mode, saying, “We understand the busy schedules of our members, which is why we are offering both in-person and virtual attendance options. We encourage all members to register for the meeting, ensuring their voices are heard as we adopt these significant changes. Members are urged to carefully review the documents provided and attend the meeting to ensure the adoption of the new Articles aligns with the best interests of the Council.”
