Senators investigating biotech, calling for export restrictions

As Congress and the White House grow increasingly alarmed that commercial and academic interactions with China represent national security threats, the political spotlight is swiveling to the life sciences. 

Concerns about supply chain vulnerabilities, loss of control over sensitive health information and unfair business practices are merging with fears about bioweapons, allegations that the Chinese and U.S. governments have withheld information about COVID-19, and the conviction expressed by several members of Congress that anything that benefits a Chinese company strengthens the Chinese Communist Party.
