W. Kimryn Rathmell views her top priorities as the new director of the National Cancer Institute to be fostering effective collaborations between different parts of the biomedical ecosystem, including industry, and smoothing the difficult path for the next-generation of cancer researchers.

Given her background and passions, Rathmell is likely to use multistakeholder collaborations to build on the institute’s precision medicine and clinical trial innovation initiatives. Making clinical trials accessible to more people is also a White House imperative. …
