Trade group parting ways with China CDMO, plans to work with Biosecure sponsors to avoid supply chain disruptions

BIO has reversed its position on anti-China biotech legislation, withdrawing its opposition to the Biosecure Act, committing to work with its sponsors to try to prevent supply chain disruptions, and pushing WuXi AppTec out of the trade association.

The moves come after the trade association was attacked by a prominent member of Congress who accused it of lobbying on behalf of the U.S.’s adversaries, and after CEOs of small and large biotech companies expressed concern that losing access to Chinese contract biologics manufacturers would disrupt ongoing and future drug development activities…
